When will you get here Spring???

Oh how I miss the warm sun, the longer days and okay, I'll say it...freedom! Summer is so close and I get little glimpses of it when it reaches a comfortable 66 degrees. BUT, as soon as it feels like Spring is upon us, we get a round of snow and out comes my cold weather jacket and Ugg boots. Like I said, I'm ready for warm weather.

I apologize for my lack in blogging. Part is due to laziness (I still have two suitcases laying on my bedroom floor from my stateside trip 3 weeks ago) and part is because I just don't have anything worth blogging about! What I can say about my daily comings and goings is this:

-I sincerely love my job. I love my class and my students and love how they are learning and growing every day. Just the other day, I had the children working on a little leprechaun limerick. I had a limerick prepared and they had to fill in nouns or adjectives to complete it. One student wanted to write the word shirt and...do you see where this is going...wrote shit instead. It's a damn good thing I checked too otherwise she would have presented her parents with a limerick that read, "There once was a kindergartner we've been told/ Who wears a green shit in the cold.."Ha! Now, shit is on my sight word list but I wasn't planning on introducing the word until May ; )

-I am grateful that I see Mike every single day. This is quite uncommon for the military lifestyle that I signed up for and I know that when we move from here, I will see less of him. But while living over at Yokota, it's been really wonderful to have our silly routines like making salad with homemade dressing and watching wrestling (yep, I watch it every Monday, Tuesday and sometimes Wednesday nights). While folding Mike's laundry on Sunday, I reflected on how wonderful life was. Then I realized that I was folding his laundry and that I had brought in the groceries by.my.self while he took a nap upstairs. SO, then I dumped his clothes in a basket, and threw the basket in his room, which woke him up from his slumber and gave me a huge laugh. That's SO me and it's SO mean! Poor guy.

-Huey has really developed a fun and sprite personality and not a day goes by that we don't laugh (or swear) at him. I plan on doing the same things to our future children. As Huey is now 1, he has grown independence with puppy-like quirks. For example, when it snowed the other day, Huey willingly walked in the snow and licked the ground he walked on at the same time!

-Although our house is ass-backwards ugly, we've made it into a home and every flaw that comes with it, like the bowl underneath our dripping sink and the crooked picture frames that are velcroed to our walls. And let me give an honorable mention to our stark white walls and carpet-tiled floors. It's just too precious.

All in all, life is good and we are content. My mom and Paul come on Tuesday and I'm so excited! I've got the guest room ready for their arrival thanks to a last minute trip to Ikea. I had one of those moments while shopping there where I was like "I can't believe I live in Japan!" It still gets to me and I don't know when I'll get used to that fact. I realized recently that by the time I move from here, I will have lived half of my life overseas.

So that's my current situation in a blogger world nutshell. I will be sure to have more blogging material after my mama's visit so do not despair my readers. And if you do read my blog (which I hope that you do), I sure do love comments (hint hint). It will surely brighten my day (as my post has brightened yours...right?)

  3. Hey now, stop hating on the back-asswards ugly housing. God love the carpet squares :) Never have I had more versatile flooring. I need to replace a few this week before we have visitors- I'm thinking I should go with a checked pattern. Never could you do such fun things with regular carpet! :)

  7. Every time you feel down about your ass-backwards house, think of mine and the disaster zone that it has probably become in my absence...
I miss your homemade salad dressing, it just doesn't come out the same when I make it!
    Much love B$
